#InstaShorts Stalking Jack the Ripper

Yeah, for a book about horrendous murders, this was pretty fun! There’s a reason this book has a broad appeal for those who can handle the content warnings – a romance subplot, plenty of intrigue, and a fresh female led take on the greatest unsolved serial murders.

The audiobook was pretty decent. My favourite chapter was Double Event as it’s so hotly debated among ripperologists.

Ripperologists will find a few Easter eggs sprinkled throughout, and although the author takes some liberties (detailed at the end of the book) she stays mostly faithful to events.
had to knock a few points off for speech and mores feeling too modern, but that’s being very picky, and admit the book wouldn’t have such a wide audience without a few leaps in logic.

Reflecting on the content, this is a strange one. A rather frothy romance set against detailed descriptions of autopsy and violent, degrading murders. Can it ever be right to turn real life crime into entertainment, however long ago the deaths occurred? Let me know your thoughts.

Content Warnings: Graphic violent murder (obviously), sex work references, detailed descriptions of post mortems, body horror.
